Gavin Hastings - Charlie Simpson - 26 years old - Oldest Child.
Gavin, Gavin, Gavin. A man that looks intimidating with his fierce stare and deep voice yet Gavin is anything but. What Gavin is is just a giant teddy bear. He’s there for someone who needs it, always offering kind words of advice or just a hug. He was the one that patched up his siblings’ injuries when they fell off their bike or one to stand up to anyone that harmed them. Being the oldest, Gavin had a lot of responsibilities, including playing the shoulder to cry on. Maybe Gavin’s too much of a pushover and lets people walk all over him, because everyone knows that he does. He doesn’t like seeing others hurt, he doesn’t like seeing pain but Gavin goes through much pain himself. Gavin’s close to his siblings, being able to wrestle and rock out with Trevor and having to keep Charlie out of trouble (though Charlie doesn’t allow anyone to know that she’s the one that Gavin can have heart to heart conversations with), even with two people next to him he doesn’t see himself as worthy of anything. He’s been rejected many times, laughed at and made fun of, for many things. His height, his teeth, his personality. Anything that anyone could make fun of, they did. But Gavin pushes his pain through his songs and music, his guitar being his best friend. All he wants is to share his story with someone, anyone that would listen because maybe the one that was always there for people needed someone who would be there for him. America was his safest bet and he’s happy with the band he formed with his brother but he often wonders if pulling both of his siblings into the life that they have now (which consists of a broken down apartment, the same food every night for dinner and barely having any money) was the right choice.
